Frequently Asked Questions


What camera/lens do you use?

I love my Canon 450D and my Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens like they are my children. I hope to add to my happy camera family with little bundles of lens joy when I win lotto.


What frosting tip do you use?

The Wilton 1M open star nozzle is a super star.  Makes any frosting look amazing.


What frosting recipe would you recommend?

It's really hard to go past the old Cream Cheese Frosting.  It's lusciously delicious, pipes well, and is super easy to whip up.  Recipe is in the Roses Cake post here (but it makes heaps so halve the frosting recipe for a batch of cupcakes!).

To be fair, Swiss Meringue Buttercream has the best texture for piping but is a mission to make and you really need a cake mixer to make it.  Normal buttercream I find too sweet and splits easily.  Cream Cheese Frosting is just right!
